Fees
Lawyers' fees follow the applicable national and Shanghai rules on lawyers' service charges: matters within the government guidance-price range are agreed within that range; all other matters are agreed between the parties. The charging basis, how it is calculated and the payment milestones are set out in writing before engagement.
Meeting and Signing
Engagement is normally signed in person at the office; please book a meeting in advance. If you are outside China, we can speak first by WeChat or video conference (during office hours), and the firm supports electronic signature.
A power of attorney signed outside China needs to be notarised and authenticated. It generally has to be notarised locally and then, depending on the country or region, carry an Apostille or consular legalisation; in Hong Kong it is notarised by a China-Appointed Attesting Officer and forwarded under seal.
